So maybe you're not a "Trekkie". Maybe you don't like science fiction. Maybe you are more the romantic comedy type of girl. I still suggest you go and see the new Star Trek film. What does seeing the Star Trek movie have to do with being a social butterfly you ask? Let's ponder this, shall we? While being social includes hanging with your best girlfriends, it also includes conversing with the opposite sex on occasion, and I guarantee, that unless you are hanging with men who are not straight on a regular basis, they are not going to appreciate having you start a conversation with: "have you seen the latest romantic comedy.....".
However, if you start a conversation about a movie that a male would most likely have seen and enjoyed immensely, i.e. Star Trek, I believe that that would be quite intriguing and a tad unexpected! You could talk about the cool special effects, the very interesting plot, and all the great characters, most of which happen to be male. He will start thinking to himself, "Wow, I didn't think a girl would be that interested in a Science Fiction flick!" And as women, since we are more analytical in our observations, we will be able to bring up certain things from the storyline that maybe they overlooked. This conversation could lead to others, and the worst that could happen is you had an interesting encounter with someone, and practice your social skills.
And besides that, it is an exciting, keep your interest, fun movie to see. And there are some fine looking young men in it, if nothing else! I loved it, and I don't really know anything about the Star Trek of old.
